HELP WANTED — APRIL 2027
An Opportunity to Help Lead Bass River
Next April, three Officer positions will be open at the Front Table: our 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, and Treasurer.
That kind of turnover doesn’t happen very often. It creates both a challenge and an unusual opportunity for members who would like to take a larger role in shaping the future of our Club.
We’re looking for three people willing to step forward.
You don’t need to walk in knowing every detail of the job. You do need to care about Bass River, be willing to contribute your time and judgment, and want to help keep the Club strong and moving forward.
Here’s a snapshot of the responsibilities:
1st Vice President
- Chair the Finance and Strategic Planning Committee
- Lead the Finance Committee in developing the annual budget
- Help identify and advance strategic priorities that position the Club for the future
- Oversee the Club’s insurance coverage to ensure it remains appropriate and complete
2nd Vice President
- Chair the Outdoor Range RSO program and build and maintain an active group of RSO's
- Monitor the Club email and help manage communications with members and the public
- Chair the Auditing function and review monthly financials
Treasurer
- Help oversee the overall fiscal health of the Club
- Continue the digitalization and modernization of Club financial and administrative functions
- Complete required state and corporate filings
- Oversee the Club’s accounting and bookkeeping functions
- Review and verify the annual budget
These are important positions, but no one does them alone. Each Officer works as part of an Executive team, with support from fellow Officers, Directors, committees, and members.
I’m writing this now because April 2027 will be here sooner than we think. I’d like to identify three members who believe they can bring something to the next Executive team and who are willing to help guide Bass River through the next several years.
If you’ve ever thought, “I could help with that”, this may be your opportunity.
You don’t have to make a commitment today. Start with a conversation. Contact me and I’ll be happy to talk with you about any of these positions, what they involve, and where your experience might fit.
Strong clubs don’t stay strong by accident. Members step forward and make it happen.

September Schedule Updates: - Vet Shoot - Friday September 25th 10:00am
- The Pistol Team will have home practice every Thursday at 6:00pm on the indoor range.
- The Outdoor Rifle range will be closed September 1, 2, 8, 15, 22, 24, 29, and 30 for Police training. There will be at least one lane available for members during Police training.
- Wednesday Night Steel - Every Wednesday from 5pm to Sunset. Set up at 4:30pm. Arrive by 6:30pm and you will have time to shoot.
- Sunday morning Introductory Archery is done for the summer season.

21st Annual Vet Shoot
September 25th, 2026
This year we'll celebrate our 21st year welcoming America's veterans from the Brockton VA Medical Center to Bass River Rod & Gun Club for a day of rifle and shotgun shooting, a fabulous barbecue, and boundless gratitude for sacrifices made.
Each year the club turns out as many as 50 volunteers to help with the Vets, many of whom are from the Spinal Cord Injury Unit. The Vets benefit tremendously from a day with our members as they experience one of the few times they are outside hospital grounds.
You do not need skills to volunteer for general help, but both the rifle and shotgun range do need skilled shooters (RSO’s, RO’s, SO’s) who know their way around a firing line and firearms setup from a benched and standing shooting position.
We've provided an incredible barbecue over the years - so expect the same terrific spread in 2026.
Volunteers who like to sit, eat and chat with Vets during lunch are highly prized by the VA staff because they know these encounters with the Vets are priceless. Food Help, Plastic Jugs and Ammo Still Needed

Bass River Rod & Gun Club has publicly endorsed the Civil Rights Coalition in support of repealing Chapter 135 and has contributed $500 each to GOAL and the Civil Rights Coalition to help cover the costs of that effort. |
|
|

Throughout September, every $20 donation to Bass River’s Scholastic Shotgun Team earns one entry into the multi-prize sweepstakes. The more you donate, the more chances you have to win! For example, a $100 donation earns five sweepstakes entries.
Prizes include coolers, gift cards, ammunition, firearms, shooting
glasses, and more!
Your donation can also help our team win even bigger. The youth shooting teams that raise the most money during September can earn endowment funds of up to $15,000. Plus, every team that receives a contribution

IDPA Bass River's monthly IDPA matches continue the third Sunday every month until December, weather permitting. You can register on PractiScore until Friday morning at https://practiscore.com/bass-river-idpa-april-19.../register or you can always register in person at the match. We need you to check in when you arrive at the range. There are 7 stages planned for your shooting pleasure. The first shots go off at 10am so please be at the range by no later than 9:30am . |

Bass River Rod & Gun Club thrives with active member participation. Despite an expanding volunteer base, we face a common challenge - 80% of the work is done by 20% of our members. To realize our full potential, members' time, talents, and dues are essential.
Club Dinner
We need volunteers to assist with the monthly club dinner every third Friday of the month from 5 - 7 pm. No cooking required! If you're able to help, please contact Larry Lyford by clicking HERE.
Wednesday Workers
Come to the main clubhouse any Wednesday at 8 am to help with various tasks around the club.

Archery Instructor & Archery Assistants: If you're an archery instructor, or willing to be trained as an instructor - or, if you are willing to help open and supervise the archery range on an alternating schedule, contact Bill DiNatale by clicking HERE.

September's Club Dinner will be a delicious dinner served up by Chef Larry. No matter if you are a new member or old hand, club dinners - held at 6:00PM on the third Friday of each month - are a great way to expand your club experience.
Here are some good reasons to attend:
1. The opportunity to meet other members and officers.
2. A delicious dinner.
3. Getting in some volunteer hours by helping out in the kitchen.
4. A delicious dinner.
5. Sitting in on a directors' meeting afterward and learning for about the workings of the club.

Range Orientation Program
In order to use the Indoor Range and the Outdoor Rifle and Pistol Ranges, Members must complete the Safe Range Orientation Program - it is in two parts. The Program is staffed by NRA Range Safety Officers who have been providing extra help and refresher instruction to our members. In the end, keeping the Bass River firing ranges safe is the best way to ensure the continuation of the Club into the future. Classes are offered each month, weather permitting.
